Freelance Photographer
Welcome to my web site.
I have worked for many years in Newspaper photography, starting in the Dark Rooms in the Scottish Daily Record in 1968, I progressed to working with my local Newspaper, the Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser covering local news and sport, I also provided photography for the Airdrieonians Match Day Programme.
Moving on in 1981 to the Glasgow Evening Times I covered all aspects of photography including the Lockerbie Disaster and the Miner's Strike.
In 1991 I moved back to the Scottish Daily Record as Sports Photographer covering World Cup Finals, European Championships, World Title Boxing, Open Golf Championships and other major sporting events as well as the normal SPL football.
I decided to leave the Daily Record in December 2008 to go Freelance. In my many years of newspaper photography I have been very successful winning the Scottish Sports Photographer of the Year an unprecedented six times and British Sports Picture of the Year two years in a row.
I have a lot of fond and not so fond memories, some of which I would like to share with you here on the pages of my web site.
This is only a small selection of my work and I will be adding to this on a weekly basis and updating with my most recent photographs, so please come back soon.
Thanks for your time.
Regards
Craig Halkett
